Cooma Community Garden, Uniting Church Grounds, Soho Street

Cooma,

Environment/Sustainability,

  • Everyone is invited to a morning of Autumn Festival activities, workshops and picnic lunch, packed with activities for children, families and individuals.

There will be loads of fun old-fashioned harvest festival events that the whole family can enjoy, especially little kids.

We're asking every family or person to bring at least ONE thing that has been produced at their home so that we can create a display of Cooma's Autumn Harvest.

The produce could be an egg from your chooks, leaves, flowers, vegies or fruit from your garden, preserves or baking from your kitchen. Anything that comes from homes around Cooma. The display is in the centuries-old traditions of Harvest Festivals.

Children are being encouraged to come along dressed as Autumn fairies and pixies, and will be getting their hands stuck into some dough and making a bread roll from scratch, then getting them dirty harvesting & washing potatoes that will be made into salad for lunch. There will be wheelbarrow races, musical instruments for communal kids play, bubbles, singing, painting and a promise of lots of surprises too!

For the grown ups there's a chance to work with Rosie and Pete from the community garden and create an Autumn food garden bed; and also to attend a Family Health workshop making a topical preparation with herbs grown at Soho Street with a very experienced medicinal herb practitioner.

Please bring a BYO everything picnic, including a plate of food to share, picnic blanket and plates so we can all enjoy a festive Autumn lunch
